Gym Regulations

To:  All Coaches, Cheerleaders, Sponsors, and Spectators:

To help preserve the gym floor, we appreciate your cooperation with the following policies:

We are very strict in the care, maintenance, and enforcement of rules or guidelines concerning our gymnasium floor and surrounding facilities.  It is anticipated that all coaches, teams, and outside community organizations follow these applicable guidelines.

Gym Floor: It has been emphasized to us by floor experts that the small rocks and dirty shoes (any type - gym, sandals, or hard shoes) brought in from the outside, can do serious damage to the surface of the floor.

  • To help eliminate this potential problem, all adults, students, and children playing on the gym floor must wear clean, rubber-soled, non-marking tennis shoes.  These should be carried into the gym rather than worn in from the outside.  This rule applies to cheerleaders as well as players.

  • Cheerleaders will be allowed on the floor only when the show rule stated above is followed.

  • No tape of any kind is to be used on the gym floor.

Locker Areas: Specific locker areas should be assigned to each team in advance of each contest/tournament and a thorough inspection of the locker room areas should be conducted prior to  and after each contest.  If damage has occurred, all schools and individuals causing damage will be expected to pay for repair or replacement of any damaged items.

Player Supervision: Each coach is responsible for player supervision on the court and in the locker room area before, during, and after practices or contests.

Court Access: Prior to, during, at half time, and after contests, only players in proper uniform will be allowed on the court.  For example, the 8th grade players will not be allowed on the court while the seventh grade team is in the locker room before the game or at half-time.

Sportsmanship: At Corpus Christi, we take pride in sportsmanship. It is expected that ALL players, fans, and coaches demonstrate the proper sportsmanship before, during, and after contests. This includes withholding any negative comments, behavior on the floor, and behavior in the stands.

Refreshments: NO GUM is allowed in the gym. Refreshments are allowed in the gym area.Trash cans and recycling bins are located on eithe rend of the gym.  We appreciate you taking the time to clean up after yourselves to ensure that all our spectators can enjoy the gym and bleacher areas.

Contacts for Gym: If you have any questions or if you have any problems during the time you are in Corpus Christi School, please contact Pat O'Brien- Athletic Director, Gwenn Roche- Principal, or Judy Clark - Assistant Principal, at 662-3712.

Thank you for your cooperation in following these guidelines.  Your support is greatly appreciated.
